Abu Dhabi Police have arrested two Arab illegal residents on charges of kidnapping an Arab youth of a different nationality to force him to return Dh40,000 that he had borrowed from acquaintances.
Abu Dhabi Police was informed by a man that JR, his 30-year-old friend, had been kidnapped in car in front of a cafe and that he had stayed in touch with his friend via SMS.
Colonel Rashid Mohammed Borshid, Director Criminal Investigation, said some text messages received by the victim's friend said there was a threat to kill him within an hour if the money was returned.
Investigations showed that PP, aged 25, and AG, aged 27, both illegal residents, had kidnapped the victim, beat him and threatened to kill him.
Police traced the kidnappers to their hideout and liberated the victim.
Police is searching for a third accomplice in the crime.
