Naomi Campbell knows she will 'never get away' from her cell phone throwing incident.
The British supermodel has a fiery temper and in 2007 she pleaded guilty to assaulting her housekeeper, after she threw a phone at her. Naomi received a community service sentence and also attended anger management classes.
The star's attitude has landed her in the headlines many other times, such as when she was banned from British Airways for life after an argument over her baggage.
Although she has turned over a new leaf, Naomi knows her reputation goes before her.
'I’m never gonna get away from it,' she said of the cell phone incident. 'It’s part of my history. I was remorseful and regretful. I’ve served. I did that time. And I never want to be in that position again.'
The 42-year-old model is one of the mentors on new TV show The Face, alongside Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha. She decided to get involved with the programme as she knows how hard it can be to carve a fashion career.
'I’ve always been very shy of doing television,' she told elle.com. 'I’ve always said no. Not to be disrespectful to anyone - I didn’t want to say yes and then let people down.
'[I liked the mentorship angle] because it was done for me! When I first got Yves Saint Laurent Couture, I didn’t know how to take off a cape. I would ask [models] Katoucha and Dalma - the real divas of the runway - ‘Can you show me?’ I’ve never been afraid to ask for help.'
The Face has drawn comparisons with America's Next Top Model, which is fronted by Tyra Banks. Although the two models' relationship has been frosty in the past, Naomi has nothing but praise for Tyra these days.
'I don’t watch the other reality model shows. I’ll never have anything to say. If you ask me about Tyra Banks I’m proud of her as a woman of colour. She’s given girls opportunity, and God bless her,' Naomi said.
