Prince William and Kate Middleton have inspired a new generation of royalists, according to a survey that suggests people under 24 will lead street parties around the nation.
The research shows those who flocked to celebrate the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana almost thirty years ago will be less in evidence for the nuptials of the couple's son. Taking their place will be their own children.
The YouGov survey, conducted on behalf of Save the Children, showed that around 2.4 million are planning to attend street parties around April 29th for the royal wedding. The majority are 18-24 years old, with the 'Charles and Di' generation preferring other ways to celebrate.

A global audience as high as 2 billion people are expected to watch the event, according to Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt, more than twice the 800 million who watched Charles and Diana tie the knot.
Liz Brewer, author of 'Party Planning and Etiquette Guide'said: "Contrary to expectations, it's the young who are sticking to convention and are celebrating the royal wedding by hanging up the bunting at Street Parties. As neighbours aren't as close as they were a few decades back, it's having an impact on how keen older people are on community events. But there's no excuse not to party - even just a dinner, bbq, tea-party or even a work-do - especially when it's for a good cause - Save the Children Week! "
