Weighty Katie No More

Weighty Katie No More

Did you see the front page of The Sun on April 13th – along with many other news sources – have been speculating on Kate’s weight, or loss of it at an appearance this week. Apparently she is now so slender her famous engagement ring is slipping off her finger and is being refitted.

Of course the spotlight is on her and she is worried about looking her best but you can go too far. I’ve mentioned this before but a little bit more body carries off a wedding dress better. There’s nothing like a ripe looking bride with a little flush and maybe a bit of a bosom and a well shaped ankle too. Literally spilling over with happiness and promise.

Kate’s always had that jolly hockey-sticks healthy look going on, and it works for her, but when does that tip over into something else? If she is going for a high fashion dress then obviously she’ll want to look the part, which is a shame because glossy showpony Kate is always going to be better looking than fashion plate Kate, all skin and sinew.

This was her last public engagement before the big day – could she lose anymore? Apparently Kate and her mother Carole are on the celeb-fave Dukan Diet and it seems to be working. The problem with missing out on whole food groups instead of taking the long approach and exercising is that although you do lose weight quickly you’re not building muscle at the same time. Which is probably why the already slender Kate looks a bit more scrawny than sporty at the moment. I have fonder memories of a rounder Kate from graduation and roller discos! Have a look at the pictures – what do you think?

Of course I don’t want to be mean, she was obviously happy and still has that devastating smile, and who needs more pressure from the press to be this or that in the run up to such an occasion? But before I finish, one more thing, I am not sure that tight silk pencil skirts are ever a good idea if  you’re doing anything more than standing still – those crumples and creases really weren’t a good look.
