Dolly Parton insists she meditates if she feels 'nuts' before a show.
The 65-year-old country music legend is famed for her illustrious music career which has spanned five decades. Despite her successful career, the songstress claims she still gets pre-show nerves and combats them with meditation and prayer.
'If I ever get to the point of being nuts, I go off somewhere and pray a little bit and try to anchor myself and do some meditation and deep breathing,' she explained. 'Before my shows, I always pray a little. I ask God to bless the show and the people, and let me be a bright spark and do good and glorify Him in my own way.'
Dolly, who is famed for her bawdy nature and flamboyant dress style, says her off-stage persona is very different. The voluptuous blonde considers herself to be an accomplished 'housewife' who cooks great food.
'I’m like a housewife. I grew up doing the cooking, as mom was always pregnant. I learnt from my grandma and aunts, so most of my cooking is old Southern soul food,' she said in an interview with Hello magazine. 'I’m not a gourmet cook – it’s not pretty, but it tastes good. Everyone loves my chicken and dumplings.'
