
Egyptian actress Laila Elwi claims she avoided appearing with the Mubarak family during their rule in order to prevent the spread of rumors and to respect her fans.
In her interview on “Al-Seyassah” newspaper, she said everybody knows that she did not attempt to become close to Mubarak’s family because she thinks of her audience. She says deals with her fans as an artist, not an influence-seeker. She said she did not appear with any member of the ruling family to avoid any kind of gossip or rumors about using her marriage to gain popularity or money.
She says she was not affected at all with what has happened to Mubarak and his family after the success of January 25 revolution. She added putting them on trial is necessary if they are guilty and corrupt. Elwi said all that connects her to them is a distant relationship, as she is married to the uncle of Gamal Mubarak’s wife.
In the end, Elwi called on all Egyptians to be careful of the plot against them, namely religious extremism between Muslims and Copts. She concluded that many spiteful people who have grudges against stars of show business try to blacklist certain stars they hate which happened to her, but she rejects such lists...YC/ATC-TCL.com
