Vitamin D and HIV
The virtues of vitamin D have long been known: it is particularly renowned as a substance able to improve the immunity of cells. A study undertaken in Tanzania has just suggested that it could have a positive effect that had not yet been thought of.
In fact, it was observed that pregnant women, infected with the AIDS virus, were less likely to transmit HIV to their baby if they were not deficient in vitamin D. However, these results do need to be confirmed.
