The plague still kills!
An article published in the American journal "Clinical Infectious Diseases" reminds us that the plague is still far from being eradicated and that it still kills many people, especially in India and Vietnam.
But cases of infection are not limited to underdeveloped countries. In the USA, for example, there were thirteen cases at the last count in 2006! On a world level, the WHO, who considers this disease to be remerging, counted 2,015 deaths between 1994 and 2003 and between 1,000 and 3,000 cases are reported each year.
