How To Create Your Very Own Fashion Identity
When it comes to fashion do you stick to one style or change like the seasons? Do you have a personal style or do you follow the trends? If you don't know how to answer these questions, then you probably haven't developed your own fashion identity yet. Use the following guide to help you develop a style that is unique to you. Everyone needs their own fashion identity and here's how to develop yours.
Analyze
Before you start try to assess your fashion goals. It's important that you can determine exactly what look you want before you can develop a personal style. Ask yourself if you want a conservative or racy look, a traditional or contemporary look? If you can work out the type of look you desire then you are on your way to creating your own personal style. Be as honest as you can. Not every look suits everyone. Each woman has her own personality and this determines the type of look that will accentuate her character and features and body shape.
Emphasize
Look at your body. Chose a part of your body that you think best represents your entire personality. Which part of your body do you like best? Your legs? Your breasts? Your bottom? Chose the part of your body you love best and make the most of it. Experiment with it, chose to do something for it. This will help you chose the types of clothes that will make it look even better. Be a show off, enjoy it. When you're done, find a way to lessen the impact of the parts of your body you don't like so much.
Imitate
If you are unsure about how to create a style that fits who you want to be, then look around to the people you admire and imitate them. Study your boss, celebrities, members of your extended family. Try to identify the people who share your taste in fashion and decide if they look good or not. Chose the clothing they wear, but don't forget to add your own personal style to the look. Be inspired by others but always add something of your own.
Experiment
Fashion trends seem so limiting at times, but that's only if you stop being creative with them. Choose a style or trend and then use your imagination. One of the nicest things about fashion these days is that, while trends are quite specific in terms of style, cut and color, you are still free to experiment. Chose something simple and add to it. Change a color, add an accessory, dress it up or down. Whatever you do, make sure you do what suits your personality. Remember that what you wear and how you wear it makes a statement about who you are and how you feel about yourself.
Accessorize
Accessories are the safest addition to your wardrobe because they don't demand drastic fashion statements. In this way, you can invest in necklaces, belts, handbags, sunglasses or scarves, and add and subtract to create an entirely different look. If you aren't sure about your fashion identity this is the best place to start. Invest in the little things to make big changes.
