Never Cry Another Tear : first album from ex-New Order members
After two years of work, the Mancunian group Bad Lieutenant is launching its discography with "Never Cry Another Tear". Although the album marks the group's opening shot, the band's musicians have fired plenty before.
The members of the group all descend from the seminal British new wave band New Order, which split up suddenly in 2006, with Peter Hook's role as bassist being taken over by Blur's Alex James. Soon to turn 54, Bernard Sumner and co (who were also permanent members of Joy Division during Ian Curtis's time) have never lost their creative verve. Rather, they continue to evolve. For instance, we had never previously heard guitars taking the central role in their music, but "Sink or Swing", a harmonic pop single, is completely built around a melodic guitar riff. An interesting taster of "Never Cry Another Tear".
