Birth of a steel-clawed hero

How is a superhero born? In "X-Men Origins - Wolverine", it is quite a brutal life change. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most prominent of the X-Men, undergoes a violent military programme called Weapon X, which transforms him into a living weapon. Now invincible, the steel-clawed man sets off in search of the people who killed his father and girlfriend.

Hugh Jackman is back in the skin of his most famous character, this time directed by Gavin Hood. Whereas the first two X-Men films were more or less faithful to the original comic, Marvel fans may be disappointed by this latest episode. Wolverine's ambiguity, which creates the complexity and interest in the protagonist, is blown apart by unnecessary details. The DVD bonus features include an alternative ending that will please the curious and the unsatisfied alike.
