Online ticket seller Fandango has announced that 500 midnight showings of the film "Twilight" early on Friday 21st November are fully booked.
Summit Entertainment is adding several hundred additional screenings of the film, which could beat records set by the launch of "High School Musical 3", thanks mostly to the young female demographic. Meanwhile, MovieTickets.com says that 400 further weekend screenings are already sold out.
The book by Stephanie Meyer from which the feature film was adapted was a precursor to the film's expected success, selling 17 million copies worldwide, half of which were bought in the USA.
In a poll carried out by Fandango, 65% of the participants said that it was the love story element that appealed to them, while 18% proclaimed themselves drawn to the vampire aspect of the plot.
Will the adolescent girls be joined by any men or grown-up women, we wonder?
