Samuel L. Jackson surprises in (Cleaner)

Samuel L. Jackson

Priests take care of the spiritual aspect of a person's death and solicitors handle the legal side.

As for retired cop Tom Cutler, he deals with removing the bloodstains left behind in people's homes via his cleaning business.

Given over to manic depression since the disappearance of his wife, he leads a quiet life alone with his adolescent daughter until the day he unwittingly cleans up the evidence of a crime.

Who has used his services to cover up their secret? Tom tries to solve the mystery by enlisting the help of ex-partner Eddie, who is still on the job, Ann Norcut, the wife of the deceased, and Inspector Vargas, one of Tom's many corrupt ex-colleagues.

Jackson gives an admirable portrayal of the bereaved Cutler, who longs to end his suffering and clean up his own life, which is also haunted by a secret.

A bonus-free DVD, whose sole offering is the film itself.
