Tyler in (Strangers)
Since her half-eleven Arwen in Lord of the Rings trilogy, Liv Tyler, 30, sightings on big screen have been quite rare. After her son’s, Milo, birth in 2004, Tyler took some time off to enjoy something she called her "greatest ambition," to be a mom.
But now she is back with two movies, The Strangers and The Incredible Hulk. Tyler, says Scott Speedman, was just a “fantastic” in Strangers.
Taking time off is not a rarity in movie business, but getting back to work with a chilling horror flick is. For Tyler, whose separation from her husband, British rocker Royston Langdon, landed her more than a few headlines that had little to do with acting. Strangers was a chance to blow off steam. And have some fun, too.
Strangers is a horror-thriller about a couple in a remote suburban house that is targeted by three dangerous masked strangers. As events unfold both go well beyond what they thought themselves capable of in order to survive.
"As a kid I was really into horror movies," says Tyler. "They were probably my favorite thing, which is so strange. I used to watch them all the time with my mom and I just loved that feeling of being scared, not knowing what's going to happen, sitting on the edge of your seat."
Tyler picked Strangers out of a pile of scripts . "For some reason I thought it was a romantic comedy," she says. "I have no idea why…I just started to read on and I couldn't put it down". "It was not only a horror movie; it was a story about this couple."
Scott Speedman, best-known for his role as heartthrob Ben Covington on TV serial Felicity, plays Tyler's boyfriend in Strangers.
