Al Majid Motors Launch The New Kia Opirus In UAE
Al Majid Motors has launched the 2007MY Kia Opirus in the United Arab Emirates. The upgraded flagship sedan from the South Korean car maker now features a slightly longer body, an enhanced interior and a bigger six-cylinder power plant.
“The new 2007 Opirus has been significantly upgraded in so many ways, to deliver the maximum benefits to our customers, that it is virtually an all-new model,” said Samir Tayeh, President of Al Majid Motors (Kia) while speaking at the launch of the car in Dubai recently.
On the exterior, Kia engineers have given a complete makeover for the ‘07MY sedan. They include a lowered bonnet, wider radiator grille, revised dual headlamps, raised boot lid, 20 mm rear overhang extension as well as new vertical tail lamps.
Inside, the Opirus features an all-new dashboard complete with a new instrument panel, dial cluster, centre stack as well as integrated audio, heating and ventilation controls. New features included in the ’07MY are heated seats, four-way lumbar support for the driver’s seat and a clearer trip computer display.
Apart from the exterior and interior design revisions for 2007, the Opirus also features a new bigger but fuel-efficient power plant. The 3.5-litre V6 that powered the previous generation of the luxury sedan has been scrapped for a new 3.8-litre V6 Lamda engine.
This all-aluminium unit generates 266bhp (up 66bhp compared to the earlier 3.5-litre) and 350Nm of peak torque. The Opirus is capable of reaching the 100kmph mark from standstill in 7.5 seconds with a top speed of 230kmph.
