GMC Terrain is the first Compact SUV to join the growing Middle East GMC line-up
All-new GMC Terrain makes its First Appearance in the Kingdom. In this year’s Riyadh Motorshow, the first stylish Compact SUV from GMC, the all-new Terrain, made its Saudi debut. The launch of the Terrain came following the huge success of GMC's first crossover SUV, the Acadia, which was launched in 2007, and it is set to build on the brand’s success and reach new audiences.
There's a whole new wave of thinking that has gone in creating this exciting new model which joins the SUV range with state-of-the-art engineering, high quality, safety and comfort as core DNA.
At 4,575mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,704mm high, GMC Terrain has all the credentials of a highly versatile Compact SUV that offers the combination of practicality and comfort of a lifestyle sedan. Terrain is a technologically sophisticated compact SUV, proficient for everyday use and equally capable as a leisure vehicle.
The model will be offered in two trim levels, SLE and SLT and will come with a choice of two normally-aspirated engines and AWD. The entry level SLE gets the 141hp 2.4-litre engine as standard while the SLT is offered with a 223hp 3.2-litre V6 engine as standard. The SLE trim is also offered with the smaller engine, while five-speed automatic transmission is common to all models.
Features include an All Wheel Drive system that combines the benefits of front-wheel drive such as stability control when accelerating and increased driving dynamics with those of permanent four-wheel drive. The electronically controlled electro-hydraulic differential ensures optimal torque distribution between the front and rear axles in all situations. The drivetrain is fully integrated with ABS and ESP systems, enhancing vehicle control and active safety.
The interior echoes the style and elegance of a top-of-the-line sedan, with sporty contoured seats that reflect the Terrain’s dynamic SUV character. In typical GMC style, all instruments and operating controls are ergonomically placed and clearly laid out. Large, distinctive instruments and a center console with central info display give the cockpit a driver-oriented layout. Eye-catching interior features include three large round air vents on the center console and a distinctively shaped handbrake.
The Terrain boasts numerous smart comfort elements such as electronic climate control, central locking, front and rear electric windows with express down function and a CD player, as well as a silver-effect front and rear underbody protector.
Then there is cruise control with trip computer to keep a track of all the distance covered. An eight-way power seat enables a multitude of different body shapes to get comfortable behind the wheel. Audio controls are mounted on the steering wheel to further emphasize user friendliness and safety.
A chilled glovebox keeps drinks cool while automatic headlamps and wipers switch on whenever the need arises. Electro-chromatic dimming rear-view mirrors – wing as well as center – shut out the glare from following vehicles, while an available electrical sunroof can be specified on the SLT. Then there is the tyre pressure monitoring system and ultrasonic park assist (front and rear) with rearview LED light bar and audible warning - standard on SLT and available on the SLE - which makes the Terrain a smart choice to be in.
The GMC Terrain conveys a casual, easy-going lifestyle with its spacious interior, numerous compartments, as well as many clever and practical features.
The sense of spaciousness created by the elevated seating position and large glazed surfaces is superb, and the Terrain doesn’t just seem spacious: measurements confirm that passengers enjoy plenty of space. With 933 millimeters of rear legroom, for example, the Terrain is at the top of its segment.
Other standard functions include Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), Active Rollover Protection (ARP), and unusual for the Compact segment, Descent Control System (DCS).
